This self-portrait is Brand’s response to the conflict currently happening in Palestine. Brand states “With social media feeds and news outlets full of images and videos of the atrocity happening in Gaza, as an artist I feel a need to respond to this, to try to help in my own way. With the death count over 40,000 people, there is an immediate need for a ceasefire in Gaza. The world needs to come together to offer humanitarian aid and support as survivors are starving and need medical treatment”.
