Mona Lisa in Urbino, 2026, Oil on ACM panel, 40 × 50cm

Painted in Urbino, Italy, this work is a contemporary response to Renaissance portraiture, drawing inspiration from the tradition of the iconic female portrait, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Set against the landscape of Urbino, the painting explores the enduring relationship between portraiture, place and the Renaissance. I completed the work during a portraiture workshop with artists David Kassan and Shana Levenson, where our studies focused on Renaissance painting and its influence on contemporary realist practice.
