Healing is a self-portrait that reflects my personal journey of healing. Depicted lying in bed, in the dark and wrapped in sheets, my body appears unsettled yet determined. Physical and emotional exhaustion have accompanied me on my healing journey as I navigate past trauma, autoimmune conditions and recover from endometriosis surgery.

Healing, for me, has been slow, uncomfortable, difficult and painful. This work acknowledges that recovery requires time, patience and the finding of one’s own sense of self. Healing is an acknowledgement that rest is necessary, that survival takes strength, and that reclaiming agency can begin with simply giving yourself permission to recover.
